We currently have two vacancies for registrars beginning February 2018 (GPT1, 2 or 3)

Bright Medical Centre has a long-established teaching tradition, encompassing registrar training through MCCC and medical student electives/compulsory GP terms.

REGISTRARS:

We offer GPT1 Basic term (first six months of GP training), GPT2 Advanced term (second six months of GP training), GPT3 Subsequent term (second year of GP training) and ES = Special / Extended Skills post. Our clinic at Mt Hotham Ski Resort is recognised as an extended skills post in Alpine Medicine through RACGP. Most of our registrars come for two years and can also fulfil their "2nd practice" requirement with winter work at Mt Hotham. A wide variety of trauma skills are learned on this winter placement. Registrars are also supervised in minor surgery, X-rays, fracture management and hospital in-patient care. We are accredited with both ACRRM and RACGP and all of our registrars have passed their fellowship exams at first attempt.

MEDICAL STUDENTS:.

We currently have year-round capacity to accept two 3rd-year medical students from the Melbourne University MD course. Students gain experience in all aspects of rural medicine including trauma, emergency care, anaesthetics, surgery and endoscopy. We can occasionally accept students from other universities on a case by case basis. Priority is given to Australian students on official university electives. We no longer offer places to John Flynn students.

"The 6 weeks I spent in Bright Medical Centre was a truly unique experience. During my placement, I was given the opportunity to interview patients and practice procedural skills under the supervision of highly experienced GPs.....I attended the local hospital, aged care facility, home visit with district nursing service as well as the local pharmacy......"  3rd-yr Student

We also have vacancies for up to four medical students at Mount Hotham Medical Centre for season 2018. These are for a minimum of 6 weeks between late-June and mid-September and are available to post-graduate students from Melbourne University only.
